Living and dining

The incredible open plan living, kitchen and dining area is the heart of the home and the perfect space to spend time together, whether you're a family or a group of friends.

Handcrafted in oak and hand painted in contrasting colours, the bespoke kitchen is equipped with everything you'll need to rustle up feasts. There's a Smeg gas double oven (with microwave and pizza plate), gas hob, AEG fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and large central island for prepping food, whilst lots of space and a larder means there's plenty of room for storing all your food.

The dining area has seating for six and there's also a beautiful Welsh dresser which the owner has made from a reclaimed oak sideboard. French windows lead out onto the deck and into the garden, so on balmy days you can bring the outside in with the sounds of the birds and maybe even the neighbouring cows and sheep accompanying you whilst you eat.

The gorgeous, light-filled sitting area has two super-comfy Loaf sofas and a leather Chesterfield armchair nestled around a crackling wood burner, meaning its oh-so-snug in cooler months. Alternatively, the French windows can be thrown open during the summer to let in the flower-scented breeze as you relax in the cooling shade - just dreamy.

Sleeping

There are three gorgeous bedrooms to choose from.

The master en suite bedroom is on the first floor has uninterrupted, south facing views over the Surrey Hills from the expansive deck. To the west, a Juliette balcony faces towards the North Downs and is the perfect spot for mesmerising sunsets. With a vaulted ceiling, separate dressing room, black out curtains, neutral tones throughout and a super king-sized bed, you're guaranteed a blissful nights' sleep in this spacious, peaceful room.

In addition, there is a dreamy second bedroom on the first floor with a double sized bed, blackout blinds and beautiful views.

Finally, the third bedroom on the ground floor with huge French doors open on to your own private courtyard with blissful sunset views over the fields. Wake up and enjoy the surrounding views from the super king size bed.

All the rooms come complete with luxurious linen covers, sumptuous throws, and textured cushions

Bathing

The master bedroom has a beautifully designed en suite shower room with rainforest shower and stone washbasin, whilst there is also a family bathroom on the first floor with bath, shower and loo. On the ground floor next to the bedroom there's another shower room with loo. Each comes with heated rail to keep towels beautifully warm and fluffy.

Outdoor space

The south facing garden is just spectacular, and you'll not want to leave this little piece of paradise! There is a large wooden deck leading off the house, accessed through the three large French windows. Leading from the dining room, outside you'll find a fabulous bespoke wooden table and Weber gas barbecue with incredible views as you cook alfresco meals. Leading from the sitting room are two occasional chairs and a fire pit - made for watching the stars and roasting marshmallows. In addition, there's a large lawned area with raised beds with flowers and vegetables (these are maintained by the owner).

Parking

There is plenty of off road, private parking for three cars directly outside the house.

Babies and children are welcome at The Coach House. A travel cot and highchair can be provided upon request.

We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about The Coach House:

A wonderful stay in a very tastefully decorated property. We had the best weekend with friends and being able to walk to the village was perfect. Beautiful walks, delicious food and then relaxing in front of the wood burner. Sarah was so helpful and gave us so much information. We will be back.

What a delightful spot! The location is excellent and the home is stylish, spacious and comfortable. The host went above and beyond expectations to ensure that we were well taken care of . Thank you for a great stay.

We had a wonderful stay with young children would highly recommend

My family wants to come back! We want to come back to this location and to this house which was so beautiful and ended our vacation on such a high note! The owner Sarah goes over and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable and set up to know the area. We loved the decor of the house, the beautiful garden and outdoor space and the town of Shere is so charming and postcard perfect!

Lovely house with a wonderful host.

beautiful property, beautiful village, excellent restautants, very helpful owner

Shere is a great base to explore the Surrey Hills and Sussex from. The Coach House makes for a relaxing home from home and Sarah is a brilliant host. Pubs are within walking distance and there are lots of walks from the door.

Sarah is a very welcoming host, and nothing is too much trouble. The Coach House is well equipped and, on arrival, it feels as though the family have just popped out as it has a very homely feel. It is a pleasant change not to have a book of rules with things we need to do and when; Sarah just wants you to arrive, relax and enjoy, and then leave happy and refreshed. The location is also perfectly placed for exploring the area and experiencing all it has to offer.

We had a wonderful stay, lovely house, amazing area, host is very helpful and nice. House is as great as in the pictures. It was a lovely surprise to be so close to the scenery of the movie The Holiday ! made it very special !!

Couldn't ask for anything more..just simply beautiful..??

We loved our stay at the Coach House - Sarah was incredibly helpful, giving us masses of suggestions of things to do and places to eat. From an electric skateboard lesson for our son, an amazing facial/massage for me and a beautiful walk across the field to dinner in a pub, it was all glorious and we would not hesitate to go back. A great place for kids - just a short walk into the village where there is a little playground, ice cream shop, coffee shops etc. Many thanks for all your help Sarah!

The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Modern and so tastefully presented. The gardens and terraces were so relaxing. A beautiful walk in to the gorgeous village of Shere. So picturesque. Sarah the host was amazing. Her recommendations of the surrounding area were first class. We will be recommending to all our friends and family.

It is such a pleasure to leave a first class review for such a special place to stay in the Surrey Hills. This is the most beautiful home, filled with such a warm welcoming energy. It is stunning inside with the most gorgeous views, all so romantic with the wood fire. An ample kitchen filled with plenty of useful cooking utensils, for us chefs. Sarah, our host, could not have been more helpful, a delight to deal with, and so prompt and efficient to make plans for us. Sarah even booked her favourite table at the local restaurant for us in advance of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and she also left a fridge of fresh fruits, breads and yogurts for our arrival.

A fantastic location, just at the edge of the village with gorgeous country walks, local vineyards and a long list of activities to enjoy, perfect in every way! If this home is available for your holiday dates I would not hesitate for a second, just book it, as you will have the best time. I cannot wait to return one day soon. Highly recommended 5/5. Thank you Sarah for your warm and generous hospitality.

This was an idyllic retreat for a wonderful break with friends . Amazing cottage - beautiful interiors and so much to see in the area. Plus Sarah could not have done more to make us feel welcome.

The Coach House is a wonderful retreat. Really comfortable and nicely designed. But what really impressed me was Sarah the owner who provided an exceptional digital guide, checked in on us and ensured we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. I'd highly recommend the whole experience.

The Coach House was absolutely lovely. Beautifully decorated. Well stocked. So comfortable. The owner was SO helpful and provided so much information to make our stay utterly devine. We enjoyed exploring the village and tried every pub!

Wonderful house with well appointed kitchen and living room and easy walk to the characterful village of Shere.

Wonderful place to stay for a family get together in a beautiful setting. Loved the kitchen, family living space and the garden. Also great to have 3 spacious bedrooms. The interior is very fitting for the country setting. The house owner Sarah was super helpful, answering all our questions and providing suggestions in the area. Highly recommend!!

We had a lovely time and felt very at home. The beds were really comfortable and we loved the soft linen sheets. The location was fantastic, right in the heart of Shere with easy access to some of the best Surrey Hills walks. Sarah obviously takes pride in her property and offers a first class service. She was always on hand to answer any queries. We hope to be back soon!

Very nice owners who went out of their way to be accommodating. Great location!

We were impressed with The Coach House. Comfortable and well laid out, and the views from the patio and the balcony made it feel like we were in a treehouse!

The perfect place for a short family getaway! Excellent location with lots of lovely dog walking spots right on your doorstep. A beautiful house set in the ideal english village.

Beautiful accommodation. Wonderfully presented, one of our favourite holidays to date.

The cottage provided us with a dream stay...everything was addressed, the host was very attentive and the location, design and attention to details were excellent. A truly memorable experience and we cannot wait to go back again!

We had a wonderful stay at the Coach House. The house has been decorated beautifully, the views surrounding the property are stunning, and the location is fantastic for exploring Shere and the Surrey Hills. A really special gem. Sarah was in contact frequently to check that we had everything we need and offered lots of recommendations for local places of interest. Thank you so much!

This is a beautiful home in a great location. It truly has one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, the kitchen is beautiful and has everything you need to cook all the great things you buy at the Farm Shop down the road. The garden was safe for the dog and there were great walks straight from the house so no need to get in the car!

The cottage will exceed your expectations, it is thoughtfully designed with fantastic amenities. Breathtaking setting in the Surry hills - with magical pubs and villages around to discover. The host could not have been more lovely, friendly and helpful. We cooked most nights and the kitchen is well stocked and a pleasure to cook in. Great space and great part of England

A lovely weekend retreat with beautiful walks and excellent places to eat just a short walk away. Sarah was so helpful and made our stay so stress free.

Simply amazing, Amazing house, amazing host perfect!

Stunning house in a wonderful location. We live in North London and only 90 mins from this venue, so at first thought it slightly odd to spend a week here on holiday. We were instantly persuaded otherwise. The Surrey Hills offered stunning walks, picture postcard villages and lovely food. We went for a bike ride, visited Brighton and Guildford and Polesden Lacey. Loved it and will definitely return. The Coach House is beautiful and we felt very spoilt. The garden is so peaceful and the bedrooms are very luxurious. The owner, Sarah sent us additional suggestions of what to do and couldn’t have been more helpful.

We had a fabulous family stay at The Coach House - it's a beautifully thought out and stylish house right on the edge of woodland and Shere village. Sarah was a fantastic host and provided us with great recommendations for walks, restaurants and more!! We all loved it and hope to return one day.
